THE PLAY OF THE WEEK
Focus is the One Thing That Will Set You Apart
We live in a world full of distractions—emails, social media, and notifications are constantly vying for our attention. It’s no wonder that focus has become a rare commodity.
Research shows most people can only focus for about five minutes, yet our best work happens in a state of deep concentration.
If you want to play at the highest level, it’s time to reclaim your focus. Just like Chris Rock bans phones at his comedy shows to keep his audience fully present, you need to block out distractions in your work.
Start with 30 minutes of uninterrupted, focused time each day and watch the difference it makes.
GET ON THE ICE
Want to build focus into your routine? Start with these two key steps:
- Put it in the calendar: Block 30 minutes of focus time at the same time each day. Treat it like any important meeting—you wouldn’t cancel on a client, so don’t cancel on yourself.
- Communicate your plan: Let the people around you know when your focus time is happening. Create boundaries so that during this time, you’re unreachable.
Commit to these habits daily, and you’ll find yourself set apart from the crowd.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Where focus goes, energy flows. And where energy flows, whatever you’re focusing on grows. In other words, your life is controlled by what you focus on. That’s why you need to focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear.”
― Tony Robbins
