THE PLAY OF THE WEEK
Professional athletes don’t just play the game – they study it. After every series, quarterbacks grab tablets on the sideline to review what just happened. They’re not waiting until Monday’s film session. They’re making real-time adjustments.
The same principle applies to business. Peak performers have a consistent process of doing and reviewing. They don’t just work hard – they work smart by analyzing what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.
Most business leaders are great at doing but terrible at reviewing. They move from task to task, meeting to meeting, quarter to quarter without ever stopping to capture lessons and make adjustments.
This is why I use the 75-Day Retro with all my clients. It’s a simple but powerful process that creates awareness, captures learning, and drives continuous improvement.
GET ON THE ICE
- In the last 75 days, what worked and why? Identify your biggest wins and the specific factors that contributed to success. We need to capture and replicate what’s working.
- What didn’t work and why? Be honest about your challenges and setbacks. When we put light on our problems, they often shrink in size and become easier to solve.
- What is still blocking you? Identify the ongoing obstacles that continue to hold you back. These are often the same issues that show up repeatedly until we address them directly.
- What’s the one thing you’re going to commit to doing differently? Based on your review, choose one specific change you’ll make going forward. Small adjustments create big results over time.
