THE PLAY OF THE WEEK

Many years ago, during a challenging cashflow period, my business coach said, “Just reach out to four or five clients you absolutely loved working with and say thank you.”

So I did. Three of them said within 24 hours, “It’s so funny that we heard from you. We love working with you too. Can you do X, Y, Z?”

The fastest path to cash and sales is through people who have already purchased from you.

The bar is incredibly low in customer service these days. It’s very rare just to get a genuine thank you from people.

But that’s great news for family-owned business owners because it’s really simple to stand out.

Give people something to talk about. Give them something that when they go home to their family, they’ll say, “You know what happened today? I got this call from somebody we did business with.”

GET ON THE ICE

Here’s your ridiculously simple action item (that most people won’t do):

  • For the next five days, start your day calling a former client or current client and just saying thank you. At least one a day for the next five days.
  • Bonus challenge: If you’re not in sales, do this for a friend. Call one friend a day and let them know how much you appreciate them.
  • High achiever version: Call a former client AND a friend each day.

If you do that for five days, I guarantee you will feel much better. It’s a phenomenal way to start your day in good energy and you’re going to make their day.
